Spendthrift Australia Inglis Easter Sale Review

April 9, 2021

The 2021 Inglis Easter Sale was one of the strongest on record with 22 $1million+ yearlings going under the
hammer, resulting in stiff competition when bidding.

Two outstanding colts were knocked down to Spendthrift Australia on Day 1, with the team underbidding
several others throughout the sale.

Lot 30 is a colt by the exciting young sire Capitalist, himself a son of Written Tycoon with whom we’ve had
considerable success through Group-winning sprinter Dirty Work. This colt was purchased off Sledmere Stud
for $260k, the same farm that we bought Dirty Work from.

The colt out of the winning mare Profound Wisdom who is a half-sister to Group winners Santos and
Melagrana. This is the family of Shaftesbury Avenue, Mutawaajid, Adeewin and Fatoon, dam of Group 1
winner Fat Al. As a physical he was highly impressive, with plenty of strength through the hindquarter and
lovely short cannons indicative of precocity.

The second purchase was Lot 88, a colt by four-time Champion Sire Snitzel out of the USA mare, Slippery Rose,
a half-sister to dual Group 1 winner Lady of Shamrock, Group 2 winner Smooth Jazz and Listed winner She’s
Sensational. Purchased for $280k off a great-producing farm in Kitchwin Hills, he’s in for an exciting future.
