Regally-bred Jimmy Creed filly tough in Laurel MdSpWt

October 14, 2017

Chauncey, from the first North American crop of Jimmy Creed, fought off the late charge of Frechette to secure her maiden special weight win by a head on Oct. 14 at Laurel Park in Maryland.

With 13 winners and five stakes horses to date, Jimmy Creed ranks in the top three in both categories on the 2017 North American Freshman Sire list.

Chauncey was between horses before emerging with the lead at the top of the stretch. The bay filly pulled clear, only to be challenged late by Frechette, but dug in to hit the wire first in 1:05.37 for the 5 1/2-furlongs.

The winner was bred by Spendthrift Farm from the A.P. Indy mare Lady Nichola, who is a full sister to Spendthrift’s keystone stallion Malibu Moon, the sire of more than 100 lifetime stakes winners and the earners of US$100 million worldwide.
