Overshare’s Lady Laguna impresses with two from two

Lady Laguna

Overshare’s Lady Laguna (Ashlea Brennan)

2YO daughter of resident sire Overshare, Lady Laguna made it two wins from two starts when she
blitzed the field to win the Elite Sand and Soil Handicap (1100m) at Rosehill Gardens on Saturday
afternoon.

Following her 0.5l winning debut over 1000 metres at Eagle Farm on November 6, the OTI Racing-
owned juvenile never looked in any trouble, pulling clear to beat Gendarmerie by a comfortable four
lengths with Wealthy Investor another two lengths behind in third.

“I think that trip (to Queensland) did her the world of good,” said trainer Annabel Neasham.

“It is quite a big ask sending them interstate for their first trip and she did a bit wrong that day, but
she did nothing wrong today. She has come on a lot.

“She is a very tenacious sort of filly and I think she is quite smart,” said Neasham.

“I’d say we will put her away for a little bit of a break now. She’s not a Magic (Millions) or an Inglis
horse so there is no pressure to try to get her into those sort of races. She has got prizemoney now,
so we would be mad not to be looking towards a Reisling (Stakes) and those sort of races.”

The I Am Invincible sireline dominated Saturday’s juvenile events, with Overshare’s filly
complemented by two smart debut winners by his own sire, Ebhaar at Caulfield and I Choose You in
New Zealand.

Purchased from the paddocks of Spendthrift by OTI Racing, Lady Laguna is the first runner for our first
season Overshare (I Am Invincible) and is out of three-time winner Catalina De Lago (Encosta De
Lago), who is herself half-sister to Group 2 Edward Manifold S. winner She Will Be Loved (Strategic).
