Overshare an Attractive Option for 2020

July 3, 2020

A bright talent on the racetrack with high-quality Australian blood on both sides of his pedigree, Spendthrift Australia’s Overshare offers great value to breeders at an $11,000 service fee in 2020.

By I Am Invincible out of a Group-placed daughter of the great Redoute’s Choice, Overshare’s racing career featured three wins, headed by the Group 3 Zeditave Stakes at Caulfield and the Listed McKenzie Stakes at Moonee Valley. He also placed in the Group 3 Manfred Stakes and finished fourth in the Blue Diamond Preview and the Rosebud.

Overshare’s career-defining victory in the Zeditave Stakes is particularly fitting, given that the combination of Zeditave blood with Overshare’s sire I Am Invincible is developing into a remarkably successful nick.

It has already yielded 19 winners from fewer than 30 runners, six of them at black-type level including multiple Group 1 winner Viddora, Group 2 winners Strasbourg and Illustrious Lad, and the quality speedster Houtzen.

Both I Am Invincible and Zeditave descend from the legendary broodmare Chelandry, who features in the pedigrees of many of I Am Invincible’s leading progeny.

With this in mind, Overshare could be a strong option for mares whose pages feature fellow Chelandry descendants such as Never Say Die, High Chaparral, Pluck, Anabaa, Clarion, Dignitas, Knightly Manner, Gold Carat, Tudor Melody, Jet Spur, Alannon, Jetball, Marwina, Manihi, Bellotto, Forty Niner and Shadeed.

Champion New Zealand stallion Zabeel is another who has crossed well with I Am Invincible, producing 47 winners from 59 runners (79.66% of runners) including seven at stakes level (11.86%). Viddora and Houtzen feature again in this group, along with the Group 1-winning mare Invincibella and Group 1 placegetters Evalina and Katsuro.

That record forms a major part of I Am Invincible’s terrific nick with Zabeel’s damsire Nureyev, which has produced 94 winners including 15 at stakes level.

Another of Nureyev’s descendants, Peintre Celebre, has crossed with I Am Invincible for four winners from fewer than 10 runners. The Justice League won multiple stakes races including the Group 2 Wellington Guineas, while Leeds won at Listed level.

Overshare’s damsire Redoute’s Choice needs no introduction, and his influence is felt far and wide across the Australasian industry. Descendants of his fourth dam Best in Show have produced stellar line-breeding results, and these can be found through the likes of Last Tycoon, Spinning World, Good Journey, El Gran Senor, Domesday, Xaar, Masterclass, Hurricane Sky, Umatilla, Al Maher and Manhattan Rain.

Any stallions with Danehill and Northern Dancer mix well with other members of the family, such as Halo and Machiavellian (sire of Street Cry).

Overshare commenced stud duties in 2018, and his oldest progeny will be yearlings in 2020-21.
