Dam of G1 Winterbottom winner covered by Omaha Beach

November 28, 2020

The G1 Winterbottom Stakes in Perth provided an exciting update for a mare covered by Spendthrift’s exciting new shuttle stallion Omaha Beach (USA). The triple G1-winner recently covered Elite Ateates (Exceed And Excel), dam of Elite Street (Street Boss), to add another quality producer to the list he has covered in his debut Australian season.

Four-year-old gelding Elite Street has enjoyed a consistent career in Western Australia, with yesterday’s result proving his fifth win in only eight starts. The Winterbottom proved a significant leap in class as Elite Street fended off a Group 1 field that included star sprinter Trekking. The winner was strongest by a half-length under jockey Brad Rawiller for local trainer Daniel Morton.

Elite Street is the first foal and first stakeswinner for dam Elite Ateates, herself a five-time winner. Bred by Almavale Bloodstock, she retired a winner in 2014 and boasts a third dam in Paris Miss (Opera Prince), a Gr3 winner and dam of the 1996-1997 Champion Older Female Sprinter, Ruffles (winner of the Gr1 Newmarket Handicap and Gr3 Schillaci Stakes).

Omaha Beach

Elite Street is an important pedigree upgrade for Elite Ateates, whose pairing this season with Omaha Beach will deliver a foal bred on the same War Front (USA) – Exceed And Excel cross as Group 3 winner Vigour Winner. The US stallion has enjoyed enormous interest from Australian breeders in his first southern hemisphere season. Described as ‘one of the best-credentialed stallions to stand in Victoria’, the three-time G1-winning son of War Front is off to a flying start with a top quality book of mares.
