March 30, 2017

Grade 1 winner Jimmy Creed, whose first North American foals will be making their debut in the coming weeks, had a $140,000US colt go to prominent owner West Point Thoroughbreds during Wednesday’s Barretts March Select 2-year-olds in Training Sale in southern California.

Consigned by Kings Equine, hip No. 36 had breezed a furlong in :10 1/5 seconds during the under tack show.

The Kentucky-bred colt is the first foal out of Sliced Bread, who is a half-sister to stakes winners Proud Heiress and Red Chili Pepper. The colt hails from the extended family of Exclusive Native, sire of Triple Crown winner Affirmed and Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Genuine Risk.

Jimmy Creed’s 2017 2-year-olds have sold for an average of $142,500US during the U.S. 2-year-old auction season, topped by a $320,000US colt at the  OBS March sale. He currently is standing at Spendthrift’s Kentucky operation for $5,000US live foal stands and nurses and will return to Australia to take up stud duties later this year.
