Millionaire Runner stretched out to a mile and a quarter for Monday's Home of the Brave S. at Gulfstream Park and came away a resounding seven-length winner.
The 3-year-old Warrior's Reward colt was facing older horses after running against the likes of Audible and Hofburg in this year's Florida Derby (G1).
After winning his debut at two, Millionaire Runner has gotten a steady dose of mostly stakes races, but may have found the key in the classic distance. Tracking in fifth several lengths from the front, he began a sustained march to the front with about a half-mile to run. He passed horses with ease, striking the lead at the top of the stretch, then drew off in the lane to win stylishly.
The winner is owned by Thoroughbred Champions Training Center LLC and was bred in Kentucky by Brandywine Farm. His dam Petite Charme is by 1997 Kentucky Derby (G1) winner Silver Charm and is a sister to 13-time stakes winner Raylene and multiple stakes winner Princess Janie.
Warrior's Reward is the sire of six North American stakes winners this year, led by Keeneland's Commonwealth S. (G3) winner and Churchill Downs S. (G2) runner-up Warrior's Club.
