Spendthrift Australia’s Redouble (Aus) continues his tour of Queensland as he looks to add more juvenile black-type in Saturday (Friday evening US time)’s A$100,000 Listed The Phoenix S., the opening race on the G1 Queensland Oaks program at Eagle Farm.

An A$200,000 graduate of the 2015 Magic Millions Gold Coast Yearling Sale, the bay colt annexed a Hawkesbury barrier trial Apr. 18, then belied debut odds of 11-1 to post a narrow victory over 1200m at Canterbury in Sydney nine days later. He ventured north to Brisbane for the first time for the Listed Hampden S. at Doomben May 21 and gave an equally strong account of himself, racing handy to the pace before sticking on gamely to be third, beaten about 1 3/4 lengths behind favored Archives (Aus) and the well-backed Jericho (Aus). That duo reopposes Saturday.

Trained by Michael, John and Wayne Hawkes, Redouble will be ridden once again by Christian Reith. The duo will leave from gate 12 in the field of 15. Post time is 10:12 p.m. ET (Friday evening).
