Leading United States First-Crop sire Jimmy Creed chalked up his third winner from just six runners on June 23rd at Santa Anita Park when Spectator rolled to a 5 1/4-length score in a five-furlong maiden special weight contest for 2-year-old fillies.
Spectator was parked wide coming out of post nine, but held her ground in fourth around the turn, then exploded in the stretch to draw off very impressively while stopping the timer in :58.46 on the fast main track.
The winner is trained by Phil D'Amato for breeders Rick and Sharon Waller. Spectator's dam, the unraced Diva's Tribute, is out of Swiss Diva, a stakes winner of nearly a quarter-million U.S. dollars.
Jimmy Creed is one of only four North American freshman sires with three winners from his first crop of 2-year-olds, including Gulfstream Park track record-setter and the subsequently stakes-placed colt Admiral Jimmy.
